Welcome new (and returning) students! With Fall quarter nearly here, Dawg Daze has tons of events to help new students learn about campus and resources at the UW. Explore a few of UW's sustainability features, from innovative buildings to secluded green space. Join UW Sustainability for a walking tour highlighting just a few reasons UW's campus is a leader in sustainability. The tour will meet at the Husky statue in front of the HUB.

Sustainability Bike Tour

Learn about recycling (with free pizza)

Attend this session hosted by Recology and UW Recycling to learn how to reduce your impact by recycling and composting. Recology will share tips to eliminate ‘wish-cycling;’ and will share an exciting behind-the-scenes look at what happens to your recycling after it goes in the bin. Learn how to be a sustainable member of the UW community. Pizza and drinks will be provided for all attendees.
Walking Tour of UW Environmental Action

Join the Environmental Policy Student Association (EPSA) and Institutional Climate Action (ICA), two of UW’s environmental activist RSOs, on a guided walking tour of some of the UW’s most significant legacies of environmental action. Visit some of the most beautiful green spaces on campus, learn about the ongoing fight for clean energy, and discover how you can develop your own legacy of sustainability.
Native Plant Nursery Open House

Come visit the UW Native Plant Nursery, located at the Center for Urban Horticulture. Kick off your quarter by getting to know our local native plants and learning about opportunities to get involved with ecological restoration and horticulture! We’ll meet just outside the west entrance of the Douglas Research Conservatory.
Watch “How to Blow Up a Pipeline”

Want to do something about climate change? Thinking about activism? Or, maybe, just want to watch a cool and incredibly based movie? Come watch "How to Blow Up a Pipeline" (based on the book by Andreas Malm) with ICA (Institutional Climate Action) and SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) at UW. There will be discussion on climate justice and social activism, snacks, new friends, and an introduction to the organizing space at UW.
UW Surplus Public Store & Sustainable Notebook Giveaway

The UW Surplus store is open to the public every Tuesday, and it's a great place to find deals on furniture, school essentials and much more. All of the items in the store are from UW Departments, and UW Surplus is dedicated to keeping items out of the landfill. During these store hours, learn more about how the program supports sustainability and reuse on campus. Plus, say that you’re at UW Surplus for Dawg Daze and receive a complementary notebook made from reclaimed fruit and vegetables.
Meet the Program on Climate Change Undergraduate Cohort

Interested in climate science and connecting with other undergraduates studying the environment at UW? Join the UW Program on Climate Change (PCC) Undergraduate Cohort (UCo), a place for undergrads to connect with each other and with grad students in order to make climate careers more accessible. Meet outside the Burke Museum entrance
The Evergreen State of Washington is justly named, with a lush variety of forests covering much of the western side of the state. Learn about some of these trees as well as the UW campus with this tour led by School of Environmental and Forest Sciences alum Theodore Hoss. The UW campus is home to over 480 species of trees, including many of the 30 species native to the State. Open to people of all levels of interest in trees, and an opportunity to learn about the best forests to visit in the region as well.
UW Food Systems Walking Tour

Join representatives from the Food Systems, Nutrition, and Health Major on a guided tour of campus to explore the University’s food system. Topics will include food resources; how the food system impacts nutrition and health outcomes; how we might increase sustainability; resilience; and equity across the food system; and tackling issues of food security; food justice; and food sovereignty.
UW Farm Clubhouse Hangout and Open Mic Night

Come hang out with the UW Farm's Dirty Dozen student club and tour the UW Farm plot at Mercer Court. Learn what the UW Farm is all about while enjoying student-grown produce. There will be an open mic for anyone to perform, and lots of great pals around. Think cozy jam session!
Indigenous Walking Tour

The Indigenous Walking Tour was created by UW alumnus Owen L. Oliver and is dedicated to Indigenous students; past, present and future. This is a special virtual tour of the University of Washington campus through an Indigenous lens. The tour is based on Owen’s original publication and includes narration by Owen and photos and videos at 10-stops across the UW campus.
