Princeton Review Green Honor Roll
The Princeton Review Green Ratings of colleges: a measure of how environmentally friendly the institutions are on a scale of 60 to 99. UW was one of 24 schools to earn a perfect 99 rating, garnering a Green Honor Roll award for the fifth straight year.

2015 Sierra Club Cool Schools

The official publication of the Sierra Club ranked the UW No. 10 in its 2015 "Cool Schools" rankings. This is the sixth time UW has been ranked in the top 10 in nine years the magazine has put together the rankings. The University of Washington was the top-rated Pac-12 school in the list, coming in one spot ahead of Arizona State University.

 

National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USG Corporation Sustainability Award- UW Athletics

The USG NACDA Sustainability Award was designed to recognize NCAA Division I institutions, honoring athletics directors and their universities for incorporating sustainable practices and materials into their athletics facilities. An eight-person committee consisting of athletics directors across the country and representatives from USG and NACDA aided in selecting Washington as this year's first award winner.

 

STARS Gold
The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance. The University of Washington achieved Gold with a total score of 77.47 percent.  

The University of Washington received this rating in October 2015. STARS ratings are valid for three years.

Practice GreenHealth Top 25 Enviromental Excellence awards
Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center were each selected for the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award, recognizing the 25 health care facilities across the county that best exemplify enviromental excellence. 

Gold level Bicycle Friendly University
The League of American Bicyclists named UW a Gold-level bike friendly university, one of just 12 schools nationwide to earn a Gold or Platinum rating.

ENERGY STAR Certification - UW Tower Data Center
The UW Tower Data Center has earned ENERGY STAR Certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for a 3rd year in a row, one of just 14 U.S. data centers to qualify each year from 2013-2015. The certification recognizes reduced power consumption, lowered carbon footprint and slower growth of future power needs.

2015 Working Across Boundaries Award-UW Tacoma 

At the Pierce County Regional Council general assembly on Feb. 19, Pat Johnson, mayor of Buckley, Wash., presented the 2015 Working Across Boundaries award to UW Tacoma's Prairie Line Trail project. 

2015 Smart Communities Award-UW Tacoma 

Tacoma was awarded the Smart Partnerships award for the trail project, which created a multi-use trail on an old railroad corridor connecting the center of the UWT campus with the surrounding community.The Smart Communities Award program is in its 10th year. It recognizes achievements by local leaders who promote smart growth planning and projects that contribute to quality of life in Washington State.

National Smart Solutions Spotlight Award

The UW, Gov. Jay Inslee’s administration and the Washington State Department of Transportation were honored for leadership in advancing the use of electric vehicles with the National Smart Solutions Spotlight Award from the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America). UW Fleet Services has added 14 electric vehicles to the campus fleet this year, with a total of 42 EVs expected by June 2016.
