The 2016 SustainableUW Festival will take place Oct. 17-23.
The annual SustainableUW Festival celebrates sustainability efforts at the University of Washington, highlighting the amount and breadth of contributions and leadership efforts across campus as well as providing opportunities for students, faculty and staff to get involved. UW Sustainability partners with departments, student groups and organizations to present events across all three University of Washington campuses during the festival, and throughout the entire month of October which is national Campus Sustainability Month. Some of the festival highlights presented by UW Sustainability include the Husky Highlight, Sustainability Careers Meet & Greet, and the popular Sustainable Exhibitor Fair. We invite anyone on campus to create an event during the festival or to let us know about already-planned events to include to the festival calendar.
The festival's centerpiece event, the Sustainability Exhibitor Fair, will be held in the HUB Ballroom on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The theme for this year's festival is "Connect the Dots." We hope the scope of festival events not only provides a look at the many diverse areas sustainability encompasses, but the need to make the connections and address the larger picture to achieve our goals.
This theme encourages us to not only connect the many and diverse areas that make up the full spectrum of economic, social and environmental sustainability, it calls on us to go even further, to be boundless, and to combine areas in order to find the most innovate solutions to the world's grand challenges, which often have social or environmental root causes. This concept of 'combining the dots' is reflected in our 2016 SustainableUW Festival branding and in our programing. Both the Huskies for Humanity and Husky Highlight events will feature efforts that connect healthcare and public health with issues like climate change and resource conservation.
There are many opportunities to join in the SustainableUW Festival's celebration of sustainability. Contact us at email@example.com to learn how you can be part of the festival as an exhibitor, sponsor or event organizer.
