Want to help reduce waste at UW? Apply to join the RecycleMania Student Planning Committee!
The University of Washington competes for national recognition in RecycleMania, a tournament in which college campuses compete to see which can recycle and compost the most campus waste. The Student Planning Committee works directly with UW Recycling to guide the campaign, lead activities and pilot projects to reduce campus waste and help UW move to the top of the rankings!
The University of Washington has a goal of reaching 70% waste diversion by 2020. The RecycleMania Student Planning Committee will play an integral role in helping the UW meet that goal by engaging the campus community to recycle and compost more during the competition period.
The committee members will be expected to meet as a group weekly over the course of the winter quarter. They will plan projects and/or activities to work on before and during the competition to help UW beat our Pac-12 rivals. Committee members will have an opportunity to work with various groups on campus, including the Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability office, Housing and Food Services, Intercollegiate Athletics and UW Recycling.
