It's Earth Day! The main celebrations are happening from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Red Square. Student, academic and community organizations will be on hand to talk about their sustainability efforts and provide tips for environmental living. Some will have free sustainable food samples or other giveaways, while music and speakers will add to the festivities. At 1:15 p.m., the Husky Green Award ceremony will recognize and honor the top environmental leaders on campus.

Red Square isn't the only spot to spend your Earth Day. If you want to get your hands dirty and volunteer, there are three different work parties in the Union Bay area. The Yesler Swamp, UW Botanic Gardens and University Slough will all be getting some TLC. Find the details on our Earth Week events page.

UW Bothell and UW Tacoma will also have Earth Day events highlighting sustainability efforts on those campuses. And once the Red Square celebration ends, you can join Divest UW for a discussion on the important role of frontline communities and women of color in the environmental movement, or the ASUW Student Food Cooperative for a Earth Day clothing swap and potluck.

No matter how you celebrate Earth Day, share it by posting a photo or tweet with the hashtag #EarthDayUW!
