To recognize Earth Day, the UW Combined Fund Drive and the Whole U are hosting the second annual Earth Day Challenge for UW faculty, staff, students and retirees from April 13-24.
You can support 35 environmental nonprofits that work to preserve our planet by making a gfit, donating your time and pledging to help the environment. The goal is to raise $2,000 by the April 24th deadline
There are three ways to get involved:
Track your conservation-related volunteer hours
Every hour spent volunteering for Earth Day activities will count as a $10 donation toward the goal. You can find volunteer activites on the UW Earth Week events page.
Make a donation
Donate to any of the 35 environmental non-profits or make a donation to EarthShare Washington, which will be divided among all the organizations.
Pledge to "Do Your Share"
Pledge to make a change in your life to help the planet. Upload an image or Vine along with your pledge, or post your pledge on Twitter or Vine with the hashtag #EarthDayChallenge
The Whole U and Combined Fund Drive are also sponsoring an Earth Day seminar on Healthy Living with the Washington Toxics Coalition. Learn how to avoid concerning chemicals in your household and some of the safer alternatives. Register today for the event, which will be April 21 from noon to 1 p.m.
