It's Earth Week!

Earth Day is this Friday, April 22, but our planet deserves more than just a day. There are events happening throughout this week across campus, all gearing up to our Earth day celebration in Red Square on Friday. I've detailed the events hosted by UW Earth Club and UW Sustainability - check out our Earth Day events page for the full list of campus events.

Tuesday, April. 19 - UWS will be hosting an open house for all UW faculty. Stop by our office in Gerberding B40 anytime from 1-2 p.m. to learn more about what UW Sustainability does, find resources for projects or just to make connections! This event promotes collaboration between faculty, students, staff.

Wednesday, April. 20 - This is a "don’t miss" event! Chrissy Cooley from the Pierce County Conservation District and Nancie Weston, founder of Grayl, will be giving presentations about reducing plastic water bottle use. Chrissy will talk about the social and environmental implications of using bottled water, while Nancie will talk to us about her product, where she began and how it works. Join us for these exciting presentations in Gerberding 142 at noon.

Thursday, April. 21 - The Sustainability Careers Meet and Greet is always one of our most popular events. Come listen to Viccy Salazar from the EPA, Susan Long from Starbucks and Katelyn Kinn from Puget Soundkeeper Alliance as they explain their career paths, how they got there and then have small breakout sessions with students to answer your questions. 3:30-5 p.m. in Gould Hall Court.

Friday, April 22 - The MAIN EVENT: Earth Day! This year we're featuring a variety of awesome exhibitors, from inside UW and the community. There will be food, games, solar-powered live music by Wyldernesse, and don’t miss the Husky Green Awards, hosted by the Dean of the College of the Environment, Lisa Graumlich. These awards honor UW's green superheroes.

It should be an exciting week of celebrating the earth! See more Earth Week events.

See you there!
