The 2018 Washington and Oregon Higher Education Conference (WOHESC) was a great success! The three-day conference was held at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon and drew more than 400 attendees from across the region. More than 100 speakers discussed sustainability efforts, best practices and ways forward. Keynotes, panels discussion and sessions all generated excitement and enthusiasm, and we’re sure everyone went home after hopefully learning something new from their fellow colleagues.

WOHESC 2018The conference theme this year was “Caring For Our Common Home” and included a focus on diversity and equity as well as sustainability. WOHESC showcased sustainability from a “local lens” which addressed issues/topics facing the Pacific Northwest and our higher education institutions, ultimately focused on our current social, economic and environmental situation.

Planning for the conference was a collaboration between Social Enterprises and the WOHESC planning committee which is made up of select individuals from schools around Washington and Oregon. The WOHESC conference encourages faculty, staff, administrators, community leaders and most importantly students to share in the conference and collaborate with fellow peers as well as showcase their commitment to sustainability in higher education.
