UW Earth Day 2019

UW’s annual Earth Day celebration is coming up Monday, April 22, and the student planning committee is looking for volunteers to help out before, during, and after the event, as well as to table during the week leading up to Earth Day. Volunteers are not required nor expected to volunteer during the entire duration of the event .

This year's UW Earth Day event will be held at the HUB, on the outdoor HUB Lawn and inside the HUB Lyceum. The event will feature speakers, performances by local musicians, original art installations created by UW students, as well as a variety of exhibitors, RSOs, and organizations promoting sustainability and environment-focused interests and missions. The theme of the event is "Engage for Earth" - we want to students to consider social and environmental justice as well as the natural environment and emphasize opportunities for students to engage and help make local communities more sustainable through service.

We want everyone that will be a part of this event to acknowledge the importance of stewardship in regards to our social and physical environments. We have only one earth, and it would be great to allow future generations to live in a world that is better than ours.

Volunteer roles needed include:

  • Set up
  • Green room staffing (check in guests, monitor room)
  • Event sign-in/information booth staffing
  • Photo booth staffing
  • Letter writing booth staffing
  • Giveaway table staffing
  • Take down
