The UW Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration is looking for two undergraduate student interns to work with the campus native plant nursery during the winter quarter.
SER is hiring a Plant Propagation & Production Intern, as well as an Education Intern. The students are expected to work an average of nine hours a week during winter quarter. Descriptions:
Plant Propagation & Production Intern
This student will help develop and carry out experiments focusing on various aspects of plant growth including media type, fertilizer, watering regime, stratification and more. This intern will develop propagation protocols that will help to ensure high germination and growth rates for species grown in the nursery.
Education Intern
This student will help develop and teach classes pertaining to native plant production and use. This intern will write and help teach short lessons for volunteer parties as well as help teach longer classes that will be open both to students and the public, helping the nursery be an educational resource for students and community members.
