Sign up for the winter Farm Lunch seminar

Each quarter, the UW Farm hosts a "Farm Lunch" seminar for students interested in learning more about urban agriculture. The informal seminars can be taken for a credit, although all are welcome to join in the discussion.

For the upcoming 2016 Winter Quarter, the Farm Lunch seminar will will highlight a mix of local farmers, policy makers and deep conversations about the work of building a resilient food system. The seminars will meet Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in Wallace Hall 120. 

Friday video: Traditional Native American Foods of Puget Sound

Long before Seattle existed, this area was home to Native Americans with deep knowledge of the abundant natural food resources of the area. This video, part of the Burke Museum's "Salish Bounty" project, shows what archeologists learned about traditional Coast Salish food from looking at 130 archaelogical sites in the area and talking with local tribal members.

Campus leaders gather to celebrate sustainability

To recognize the efforts of the University of Washington campus community, UW Sustainability hosted a Sustainability Leadership event on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Campus sustainability leaders met in Odegaard Undergraduate Library to celebrate national recognition of UW's sustainability efforts and other successes on campus.

GreenDrinks at UW brings sustainability professionals and students together

Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Husky Union Building Lyceum was filled with employees, students, faculty, and surrounding Seattle community members as UW Sustainability co-hosted a Seattle Greendrinks gathering with the UW Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship, the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge, UW Surplus, UW Professional and Continuing Education and UW Bothell's School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences

Campus Sustainability Fund brainstorming event Thursday

The Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF) is hosting an evening of interdisciplinary discussion and project brainstorming. CSF representatives will share information on the fund, and how students can apply for grants to make their environmental ideas a reality on campus, as well as brainstorming ideas for projects. The goal of the event is to engage the campus community in brainstorming sustainability improvements we want to see at UW, and moreover, to empower students to make an impact by applying for a grant and starting their own project!
