There are two volunteer opportunities at the Center for Urban Horticulture this Monday, January 17, as part of the MLK Day of Service. Anyone with proof of vaccination can volunteer with the UW Farm from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. UW students also have the chance to volunteer with the Society for Ecological Restoration's Native Plant Nursery from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m.

The Renewable Energy Scholarship Foundation is now soliciting applications for scholarships which will be awarded for the 2022-2023 school year.

The foundation expects to award at least eight scholarships for the upcoming year, available to students at all levels (undergraduate and graduate) who are studying renewable energy in any sense. Each scholarship is a cash award of $2000 with no strings attached. Applications can be submitted until Februrary 15.

Francis Abugbilla is a Ph.D. candidate in international studies in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. He is currently a Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation 2021 Emerging Scholar and a Visiting Researcher at the German Development Institute in Bonn, Germany.
