V'Ella Warren, Senior Vice President of UW Finance & Facilities and Board of Regents Treasurer, was recently nominated in the Sustainability Hero category for the 2015 Sustainable Seattle Leadership Awards. Warren has been a champion, advocate, and sponsor of social responsbility cross campus for many years.

A few of Warren's key accomplishments include establishing the Lean in Finance & Facilities initiative, the Corporate Social Responsibility Working Group, the Business Diversity Program, and Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability. Through the Business Diversity Program, relationships with small, local, women and minority-owned companies have increased the University’s spend with these businesses, positively benefiting the local economy. The ESS office was responsible for coordinating the development of the University-wide Climate Action Plan with specified greenhouse gas reduction targets and supports the University’s sustainability goals.

Warren's leadership has resulted in UW winning many awards and her contributions have embedded social responsibility throughout UW in a way that has far reaching impact, from our own students faculty, and staff to the local, regional, national, and global communities. This would not have been possible without V’Ella’s determination to make sustainability a top strategic goal for the UW.
