Celebrate sustainability at the University of Washington during the first SustainableUW Festival from Oct. 20-25!

The festival recognizes environmental stewardship and sustainability efforts across the University of Washington, highlighting contributions and leadership efforts across campus as well as providing opportunities for students, faculty and staff to get involved.  For a full event listing, see: green.uw.edu/sustainable-festival-2014/events

A central part of the festival will be the Sustainability Summit on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 – national Campus Sustainability Day. Events will include:

  • Exhibitor Fair in Red Square, 11:30-2:30 p.m. - Dozens of exhibitors who put sustainability first will be on Red Square to inform the UW community about their efforts. Sample sustainable snacks while you browse.
  • Sustainability Summit speakers and poster session at Alder Commons, 4-7 p.m. - A panel of deans and students across several disciplines address the topic of "Solving Grand Challenges” starting at 4:30, followed by a reception and poster session featuring projects funded by the Campus Sustainability Fund and the Green Seed Fund.  The Husky Highlight keynote speech from UW Athletics will cap the evening at 6 p.m.

The festival is designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge among faculty, staff, and students, from across all departments and disciplines. People and departments across campus are encouraged to include their own events and programming. See green.uw.edu/sustainable-festival-2014/partners for more information on how to include your event on the festival calendar.
