2017 UW Sustainability report

The 2017 UW Sustainability report highlights UW Sustainability programs and key achievements for sustainability across the University of Washington.

The report includes information on UW Sustainability's programs such as the Climate Action Plan, Green Certifications, the UW's Green Up partnership, and events. The Environmental Stewardship Committee, Campus Sustainability Fund, Husky Green Award winners, and others are also featured.

UW recognized as campus sustainability leader

The University of Washington has earned recognition from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) for its sustainability performance, with special recognition in the food & dining and transportation categories.

AASHE's 2017 Sustainable Campus Index lists the UW as the second-rated university in both transportation and food & dining, and the sixth-best doctoral institution overall.

UW Medicine hospitals win environmental awards

Harborview Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center have received the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth. The Top 25 Award recognizes healthcare facilities across the country that exemplify environmental excellence and are setting the highest standards for environmental practices in healthcare. This is the eleventh consecutive year for UW Medical Center to receive the top award and the sixth consecutive year for Harborview.

2017 Husky Green Award winners announced

The University of Washington has announced the nine winners of the 2017 Husky Green Awards, as well as one Husky Green Legacy Award honoree. 

This year's winners include students, faculty, staff and groups who have demonstrated leadership, initiative and dedication to campus sustainability. The awards are celebrating their eighth year of recognizing outstanding environmental commitment. Students, faculty and staff from all UW campuses are eligible to nominate and receive Husky Green Awards. 

2017 Husky Green Award nominees announced

The 2017 Husky Green Award nominees include 19 individuals and seven groups from across the University of Washington who have shown a dedication to sustainability through their actions.

The Husky Green Awards are the only award program at the University of Washington which recognize a commitment to sustainability. The nominations are  made by students, faculty and staff to honor the top environmental leaders at all UW campuses.

UWMC and Harborview earn Green awards

Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center were named as two of the 50 Greenest Hospitals in America by Becker’s Hospital Review, the leading source of cutting-edge business and legal information for healthcare industry leaders. Hospitals on the list are fully committed to promoting the healing and well-being of patients, employees, visitors, the neighborhood, and the broader community through environmentally sustainable practices.
