UW earns STARS Gold rating

The University of Washington is among the most sustainable schools in North America, according to the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS).

The UW submitted its most recent self-reported assessment this fall and received a gold rating, with a score of 77.47 percent. The UW’s score is the best among Pac-12 universities which have submitted a STARS report, and the third-highest of the 252 currently rated schools.

UW named to Green Honor Roll for 5th straight year

The University of Washington has been named to the Princeton Review’s Green Honor Roll with a perfect Green Rating for the fifth consecutive year.

Since The Princeton Review started the Green Rating program, the UW has earned the highest possible 99 rating and has been named to the Green Honor Roll seven out of eight years. This year the UW is one of 24 schools to earn the recognition out of 804 schools ranked.

UW Medicine Hospitals Win Top Environmental Awards

Harborview Medical Center and University of Washington Medical Center have received the Top 25 Environmental Excellence Award from Practice Greenhealth. The Top 25 Award recognizes healthcare facilities across the country that exemplify environmental excellence and are setting the highest standards for environmental practices in healthcare. This is the ninth consecutive year for UW Medical Center to receive the top award and the fourth consecutive year for Harborview.

The UW Sustainability office is launching a timeline of University of Washington's achievements and milestones in sustainability and environmental stewardship. The project, "A Century of Sustainability," includes entries dating back to the earliest days of the current UW site in 1895 and includes highlights up to the present day.
