As the University of Washington football team prepares for its first home game of the season, the Huskies have already earned a No. 1 ranking as the most sustainable football school.

UW took top honors in's Top 25 Sustainability Efforts rankings. SaveOnEnergy started with the Associated Press' preseason top 25 football teams and ranked the schools on their environmental efforts. The criteria included stadium sustainability efforts, campus-wide waste diversion rates, active green organizations, the level of environmental studies degrees offered and percentage of budget spent on locally grown or organic foods.
