A look onto a slice of the 58 acres of restored wetlands on campus
University of Washington
Bothell Campus
1995
Ongoing

One of the largest and most successful ecological restorations of a floodplain wetland in the Pacific Northwest is happening right here on campus. This project transformed cattle pastures and a degraded stream channel into a vibrant ecosystem supporting a rich community of native plants and animals within an urban landscape. It is one of the 15% of fully successful restoration projects in Washington state. Aside from enhancing the surrounding ecosystem and providing clean air, this project has resulted in educational opportunities as well.
