Fleet Services at the University of Washington engages in a variety of green practices from burning cleaner fuels to reusing motor oil to heat the shop. One of those green practices includes recycling as many commodities involved in the vehicle-maintenance cycle as possible.

The commitment demonstrated by Fleet Services in reducing their use of hazardous waste has earned them a five-star rating by EnviroStar, a program administered by the King County Hazardous Waste Management Program. This is the highest rating given to organizations who are leaders within their industry with regard to environmental responsibility.

Fun Facts:
Any remaining oil not used to heat the shop is recycled, finding its way back into the very cars it first lubricated.
