Sustainability efforts and events happen across the University of Washington every day, by students, faculty, and staff who are passionate about our future. The SustainableUW Festival celebrates those contributions and highlights opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to get involved. The SustainableUW Festival is designed to showcase the full scope of sustainability efforts across UW. Events include campus lectures and seminars, volunteer opportunities and other events throughout the UW community.

Exhibitor Fair

Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 | Red Square
The centerpiece of the festival will the sustainable exhibitor fair on Red Square. Dozens of exhibitors who put sustainability first will be on Red Square to inform the UW community about their efforts. Learn about environmental student groups, UW programs, community partners and more.

HUSKIES FOR HUMANITY | Art. Research, and Restoration: UW's Connection to the Duwamish River
Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 | Alder Commons Auditorium, 6 - 8 p.m.
Join us for an exploration of the many ways UW is connected to the Duwamish River. The evening will start with a poster session of former and current projects associated with the Duwamish River and surrounding community, followed by several short presentations on current projects by UW faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Following the presentations, attendees will have a chance to interact with the presenters.

HUSKY HIGHLIGHT | Energy and Innovation
Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015
Researchers at the Molecular Engineering & Sciences Institute (MolES) and Clean Energy Institute (CEI) explore how custom engineered molecules can lead to breakthroughs in solar energy, health & medicine and drug delivery. Come hear members of MolES and CEI labs talk about their passion for tackling some of society’s greatest challenges and learn how they are incorporating sustainable practices in to their everyday work. The program will conclude with a tour of the Molecular Engineering & Sciences building, a unique laboratory/research building with many green design features, certified as LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Sustainability Careers Meet & Greet
Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 | Odegaard Library ALC 136, 3:30 - 5 p.m.
Presentations on sustainability careers with representatives from the business, non-profit and government sectors, followed by a meet and greet for students to talk with the speakers. Presenters speak briefly on their organizations but also on their individual career paths. Whether you are a student in business, communications, law, and/or environmental studies, this event is for you. One of our most popular and well attended events. 2015 Presenters include representatives from Alaska Airlines, Master Builders Association of King & Snohomish County GreenBuilt Program, King Country EcoConsumer Program, and EPA Region 10.

Student Sustainability Project Poster Session

After the sustainability careers meet and greet, see posters on projects funded by the Campus Sustainability Fund and Green Seed Fund, and talk with the students involved.

Tweed Ride

It's jolly good time for the UW's first Tweed Ride. A Tweed Ride? Yes, a Tweed Ride. Why, the concept is simple. Attire yourself in something timeless and tweedy and then tour around our rustic campous by bicycle.
