Hi! I'm Toren, and I'm excited to be part of the UW Sustainability team as the Events and Outreach specialist! As a proud UW alum, I'm excited to be back on campus and working with UW Sustainability. The environment has always been something I have been passionate about - I think it began at an early age with my love of the outdoors, which turned into degrees in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Science. After college (and not ready to get a "real" job yet) I spent time living in Kona, Hawaii working in Ocean Conservation with the best co-workers ever: Dolphins! (Which became another passion of mine.)
We've got my outreach experience covered, so how about events? Well, another major passion of mine is food, cooking and planning. That's where the events portion comes in, and my position with UW Sustainability is the perfect blend (I also love coffee... Fair trade of course) of my interests.
I'll be posting my "Toren's Tidbits" on the blog regularly. It'll be a great way to share things I'm passionate about with you - everything from green office highlights to paper reduction tips to green event resources and SO much more! Hopefully you'll learn something new, and I'll learn from you as well!
