The University of Washington is a leader in sustainability and committed to implementing best practices in environmentally responsible construction for every new building and major capital renovation. The UW has gone beyond state requirements and requires all new buildings and major renovations to meet LEED Gold certification standards at minimum, as well as energy efficiency that is 15% more effective than city code, and 50% reduction in potable water use from city code.
