UW's Sustainability Action Plan

The UW's Climate Action Plan (CAP) was first published in 2009. In 2020, the UW adopted a new, comprehensive Sustainability Action Plan including an updated Greenhouse Gas reduction target. The Sustainability Action Plan builds on the work of the Climate Action Plan to reflect the UW's current sustainability goals.

The University of Washington first published its Climate Action Plan (CAP) in 2009 and published progress reports on its carbon reductions goal: to reduce emissions 15% below 2005 levels by 2020, and 36% below 2005 levels by 2035. We also analyzed potential carbon reduction actions and evaluated them based on factors such as potential for carbon reduction, and financial and political costs. The findings are published in the Marginal Abatement Cost Curve.
