Gardening at home event

Join gardeners from UW's Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma campuses on April 14 at 12:30 p.m. for a fun and informative event. Learn tips for gardening at home, as well as information about our campus gardens. We will have brief presentations followed by a Q&A session with the gardeners.

The gardening experts include:

  • UW Farm manager Perry Acworth. Perry has been manager of the UW Farm since 2018 and received the 2020 UW Distinguished Staff Award. Since earning her Masters in Education at UW in 2014, Perry has managed three student farms. Previously, she owned and operated a commercial grass-based sheep dairy, made farmstead yogurt and feta cheese, raised layer hens and grew vegetables in Union, Maine.
  • UW Tacoma Giving Garden coordinator Meg McCann. Meg has has been gardening in her own backyard  for years. She is a junior majoring in Environmental Science with a focus in conservation biology and ecology.
  • UW Bothell grounds team gardener Brian Baird. UW Bothell has eliminated herbicides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers from our campus environment in favor of organic land care.

This event is jointly hosted by the sustainability teams at UW Bothell, UW Tacoma and UW Sustainability.
